EV hardware moves from concept to a testable prototype with rigor.

The Challenge
An EV product, for a team that is not designing a whole vehicle, is a subsystem that has to live with a vehicle’s supply, heat, connectors and service access. The concept names the job and the boundary: what the product does, what it must not do, and which facts are still assumptions.
Write the question before you order the board. A fair question is whether the connector can be mated where a hand can reach, whether the circuit still behaves when the supply sags as you assumed, or whether the enclosure and the cables can be assembled without a workaround you will forget.

Description
This Insights guide explains EV Concept to Prototype for founders and engineering teams building hardware that must be manufactured, tested, and handed off. Write the question before you order the board. A fair question is whether the connector can be mated where a hand can reach, whether the circuit still behaves when the supply sags as you assumed, or whether the enclosure and the cables can be assembled without a workaround you will forget.

The Outcome
The job, the electrical boundary and the acts the product must not perform are written. Connector, return and mounting face are identified by revision, or the omission and the forbidden conclusion are written. The supply assumption is something you can impose on the bench.
“An EV product, for a team that is not designing a whole vehicle, is a subsystem that has to live with a vehicle's supply, heat, connectors and service access.”
