Supplier feedback is design input, not a late surprise.

The Challenge
Supplier feedback should change the design when the supplier is reporting a limit of their process: a feature they cannot form, a tolerance they will not hold, a stack they cannot assemble, a lead time that makes the part fictional. It should not change the design when the comment is a habit from another job, a request to move difficulty onto you, or a suggestion that breaks a requirement the supplier was never told.
Obeying every note produces a product that is easy for one factory and wrong for the user. Refusing every note produces a tool that fights the process, and a blame argument later.

Description
This Insights guide explains Supplier Feedback for founders and engineering teams building hardware that must be manufactured, tested, and handed off. Obeying every note produces a product that is easy for one factory and wrong for the user. Refusing every note produces a tool that fights the process, and a blame argument later. It also covers what kind of comment it is; who is allowed to accept; when two suppliers disagree.

The Outcome
Every note is tagged cannot, costly, preference, risk, or lead time. A cannot names the process limit. A risk names the failure. The product requirement sits in the same row as the note.
